What is the biggest difference between TPT shafts and other graphite shafts?

Jon Sinclair: TPT shafts are far more consistent. Almost every golfer that tests TPT is able to feel this consistency and see it in their ball flight and launch monitor numbers.

When you feel that your shaft is more consistent, you can swing it faster and be more aggressive. That’s why golfers improve their scores immediately with TPT shafts.

Why are TPT shafts more consistent than other shafts?

JS: It’s the way they’re made. Other shafts are made by hand, so there are always errors — even in the most expensive handmade shafts. This means that other shaft companies cannot fully control the CPM (cycles per minute) of their shafts, so every shaft is different even if it’s supposed to be the same.

Think of this. You will likely have different people during any given week hand rolling the same shaft. How can this be consistent? They may roll one better when they are fresh in the morning, and then as the day goes on, they get tired and do it a little differently. Using humans to make shafts does not make sense.

The machines TPT created to wrap Continuous Fiber never get tired. They will always wrap a shaft the same way. This provides total control over CPM, as well as weight, bend profile, and torque.

Why is Continuous Fiber important for golfers?

JS: Continuous Fiber is important to every level of golfer. It’s the only shaft manufacturing process that can give a golfer and their fitter confidence that the shaft they were fit for will be the same as the shaft that is built for them.

Some golfers think that steel shafts give them better feedback. This is untrue. Graphite wrapped with Continuous Fiber gives golfers much better feedback than steel ever could. Feeling the vibration of a steel shaft has always been considered “feel,” but really it just stings your hands!

Continuous Fiber also allows the golfer to have more consistent impacts. This was what I find with golfers every day, and I saw it with the independent research I did using a robot. This is why golfers actually improve when they switch to a TPT shaft. It’s going to make them more consistent no matter how they swing.

How do TPT shafts help club fitters create better performance for their customers?

JS: Once I started fitting with TPT shafts, I realized that I could stop fitting with other shafts. I can fit any player with TPT because TPT makes such a wide range of shafts. TPT fittings are more precise and faster. I always know what to expect with TPT shafts, and I know when the golfer gets their shaft it will feel exactly like the one they were fit with.

With TPT I can move the ball up, down, right, or left. TPT also allows me to understand what the golfer is feeling. There’s no guessing.

How do TPT shafts help club fitters make more money?

JS: TPT shafts give me the ability to fit anyone. This means all golfers are a potential customer for TPT. With TPT, you’ll show golfers automatic improvement and that almost always ends in a sale. How can you put a price on improved performance?

Who gets better performance from TPT shafts? Professional golfers or regular golfers?

JS: Almost every golfer gets better results from a TPT shaft. And what’s really cool for the average golfer is that the TPT shafts created for slow-swing-speed golfers use the same materials and designs as the TPT shafts created for high-speed Tour Players.

Should fitters invest in both the Red Range Driver Shafts and Fairway Wood Shafts?

JS: Of course. TPT’s Driver and Fairway Wood shafts were designed specifically for those clubs. And if you want the best performance, you need a shaft that is designed for the club you are using.

What’s just as important is that TPT shafts allow golfers to match the feel of their fairway wood and their driver. No other shaft company has accomplished this before because of the imperfections in their shafts.

How many shafts do you recommend fitters carry in their shops?

JS: It depends on the clientele. If a fitter works almost exclusively with retirees, they’re going to want to carry the higher-number TPT shafts. If a fitter works with a lot of tour players, they’re going to want to make sure they’re carrying the lower-number shafts and especially the 14 and 15 Series.

For most fitters, however, the most important shafts will be the 16-19 Series shafts, which is why I recommend that every TPT Authorized Fitter carry at least eight driver shafts and eight fairway wood shafts.

Ideally, fitters would carry the entire line of TPT Driver and Fairway Woods shafts in their shop. That’s what I’ve done so I’m ready to fit any customer that walks in my door.

My business is heavily weighted toward better players. I have professional players using shafts that range from the 14-18 Series for men and from the 16-20 Series for women. The only shaft that I do not have a professional playing is the 21 Hi, yet it’s a top seller for accounts that cater to newer golfers or older golfers.

Have you had trouble convincing golfers to invest in a more expensive shaft?

JS: All you have to do is get a golfer to try TPT. I’ve had golfers gain 5-50 yards with a TPT Driver shaft and up to 20 yards with a TPT Fairway Wood shaft. What golfer would not pay for that?

It’s true that some golfers don’t gain distance with TPT, but in those cases there’s almost always a tighter dispersion with a TPT shaft. Again, what golfer wouldn’t pay to get straighter?

If the performance is truly equal in all respects, TPT shafts still offer the advantage of an identical replacement. If you break your handmade shaft, you’ll never find another one that feels or performs just like it. With TPT, you can be sure that your replacement shaft will feel and perform exactly the same.
